Joakim Esbjörnsson
Joakim Esbjörnsson is an Associate senior lecturer and Associate Professor in Virology at the Department of Translational Medicine, Medical Faculty at Lund University. He is the current director of the Lund University Virus Centre, an Honorary visiting researcher at the University of Oxford, and he currently leads the development of the research and innovation dimension within the EUGLOH university alliance. His research focuses on understanding the mechanisms that regulate HIV disease progression rate, and he has made important contributions to our understanding of HIV-2 disease progression, how HIV-2 affects HIV-1 in dual-infection, and HIV molecular epidemiology. His current research also involves an in-depth characterization of virus-host interactions during early HIV infection.
Pia Svensson
Pia Svensson holds a PhD in Public Health from the Faculty of Medicine at Lund University. She is an Associate Researcher at the Department of Social Medicine and Global Health, where she has been involved in several scientific projects, cross sector collaborations, and capacity building initiatives in the areas of migration health, health literacy and digital health literacy, and public health risk communication. She also teaches within the Master’s Programme in Public Health, one of Sweden’s most applied for programmes. Currently, she works on developing the research and innovation dimension within the European University Alliance for Global Health (EUGLOH).
